EKGs are done hundreds, if not thousands of times, at any major facility. The clinician is assigned reading days where they may churn through 10 of them a minute to look for insights. The clinical notes are then entered into the electronic system (e.g., MUSE®, P-Scribe®, etc.), and the physician is done with that workflow. The central coding team picks this up and reads thousands of these, one at a time; diagnoses are entered, modifiers added as needed, the charge validated and then released for professional fee billing.
All of this sounds wonderful until we come to the realization that the remuneration for the professional fee per EKG varies from $4 to $17! The amount of work involved in coding is so high that the operation barely breaks even. Many systems outsource it, and the outsourced entity charges $3 per read, making the whole exercise pointless again.

What is the problem with this picture? In a declining reimbursement world, the need to eliminate unnecessary and less-profitable operations is key. Let us see how technology can help.
Enter Cassidi®
Cassidi stands for Computer-assisted Document Interpretation. She is an intelligent agent who can read tens of thousands of EKGs a minute, automatically generate the CPT and the relevant diagnoses, have you review/spot-check and approve the methodology, and then set her free.
Cassidi is priced per provider per month independent of the number of EKGs so you can deploy her systemwide without having to think too hard.
Her EKG reads have been tested in the market, gone through CMS and stood the test of time. She knows how to work when there are procedures on the same day, add modifiers, etc.
Cassidi has potential in other areas of coding as well. The first and simplest step is EKGs. We promise that from the moment the EKG document results are available, Cassidi will be up and running in no more than 48 hours. That is how confident we are in delivering value to you.
